Restaurant of the Month

El Argentino

Magnificent beef may be the specialty here, but it is not the whole story. Empanadas, sausages, melted cheeses, pastas and poultry are also on the menu. But, let’s be honest… their beef is their calling card. Start your meal with an order of warm spinach or cheese and corn niblets or minced meat empanadas. Deep fried, the pastry is flakey and the filling delicious. Order one of each and share them. Dunk the chunks of empanadas into some fresh chimichurri and you have the perfect start to your meal.

There is a new chef from Mexico City onboard and the difference is immediately noticeable.

El Argentino takes their food very seriously. When they offer meat, they offer good meat! Throw in correct cooking times – these people know the difference between rare and medium rare, and they know what well done means.

At lunchtime, not only the businessworld moves to El Argentino but also many locals and tourists like. This is where they find charcoal grilled imported Angus Pride beef that includes arrachera, churrasco, Rib-eye, and bife. All perfectly marbled... the flavor is exquisite.

Dining at El Argentino is an Argentinean experience. Between the music, paintings of Argentinean scenes, all the wood used in the décor and the clay tiled roof, you feel like you could be in Argentina. Add a glass of Argentinean wine and you're there!

The wait staff is particularly well versed on their menu and the art of serving. A dining experience at El Argentino is something everyone should do once if you are visiting Merida and regularly if you live here.
