Restaurant of the Month

Muelle 8

For the past 20 years Muelle 8 has been pampering their clientele with deliciously fresh, innovative, tasty seafood. Because of this pampering and fresh seafood, the clientele is the same which is a sure sign of happy, satisfied people. Now under the tutelage of owner Jorge Losa’s daughter, Paty, Muelle 8 has a wide menu of some 58 dishes.

You can begin your meal with either a hot or cold appetizer. The cold ones include the fruits of the sea mixed platter which is shrimp, lobster, squid, octopus and fish ceviche; or a salmon, conch or hogfish carpaccio or a smoked red snapper pâté. The menu of hot appetizers lists melted Dutch cheese, shrimp crepes, and crab cakes Canary or French style. Soothing soups include a cheese cream, a pumpkin squash flower and conch cream, a seafood soup or a shrimp broth.

It will be hard to choose a main course with choices such as shrimp, conch, lobster and fresh fish fillets of grouper, hogfish, snook and trout. The owner owns a fish packing plant in Chiquila (by Holbox) so it is a given that every piece of fish that enters Muelle 8 is fresh.

The specialty of the month for December is the traditional Bacalao a la Vizcaina, salted codfish in tomato sauce with olive oil and olives.

The wines, located in a special nook, include Italian, French, Spanish, Mexican and Chilean - perfect to accompany your meal.

Other menu choices are several tasty pasta dishes and three meat dishes for the meat lovers. On Sundays, Muelle 8 offers scrumptious Paella. You can order a Paella for your parties ($1,150 pesos for 10). Call 944-5343. And don’t forget, there is parking in the back. Bon apetit!
