Archery
From October 14 to 22nd, Yucatan will host the largest and most important archery event in the world – an event that will gather more than 500 sports people from some 50 countries.
The Sports Complex Inalambrica, a vanguardistic styled building on the west side of the city of Merida will be one of the sites of the IX World Youth Championship and the III Cadets World Championship from October 14 to 21.
And as a final brush stroke of gold to this magna event, the finals of the World Cup for Archery will be held at the archeological zone of Mayapan on October 22nd where the 16 best archers in the world will compete.
“We have strived to be the best hosts for this event, we know that the sports people will give their best effort and we want them to feel at home,” said Cesar Gonzalez Arjona, president of the organizing committee.
This is the first times that this sports celebration has been held in this country, in the Yucatan to be precise, where the magic of the Mayan culture, the marvelous archeological sites, the rich and varied cuisine, the beautiful beaches and the hospitality of the people make it a safe and perfect site.

The archaeological site of Mayapan , located in the municipality of Tecoh, just 60 kilometers (36 miles) south of Merida, will be the site of the grand finals of the Archery World Cup, where the 16 archers who will compete, won the privilege of coming to this event by winning four other events in different countries that include Porec, Croatia, then Antalay, Turkey, El Salvador and the last event in Shanghai, China this past September 27th.
The participating countries are Ukraine, South Africa, France, Holland, Australia, Finland, Canada, Germany, Korea, Slovakia, United Sates of America, Malaysia, Puerto Rico, Italy, Hungry, Norway, Belgium, China Taipei, Slovenia, Japan, Trinidad and Tobago, Croatia, Uzbekistan, India, Great Britain, Ecuador, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Panama, Venezuela, Sweden, Costa Rica, Chile, Turkey, Denmark, El Salvador, Spain, The Chec Republic, Guatemala, Rumania, Russia, Switzerland and Mexico.

The inauguration ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 15th at 7 PM at the main field of the Inalambrica Sports Complex where the governor of the state of Yucatan Patricio Patron Laviada will cut the inaugural ribbon along with the president of the Sports Federation Prof. Nelson Vargas Basáñez, the Director of FITA events Juan Carlos Holgado and the General Director of the Sports Institute Cesar Gonzalez Arjona.

Competition will start on October 26th from 8 AM to 5 PM and the World Final of the Cadets and the Youth division will be on Saturday the 21st.
The Final of the World Cup will be held at Mayapan on Saturday, October 21 starting at 11 AM. Entrance to both events is free.
