II Trova Festival -2007
A month of fiesta and Yucatecan sounds

If there is something that distinguishes Yucatan from the rest of Mexico, it is our trova music, the music in the Historical Center that touches your heart, that pays homage to lovers and to the beauty of women.

To pay tribute to the composers and musicians that keep our Yucatecan music alive and well, the Yucatan Institute of Culture (ICY) has organized the II Festival of Trova 2007, a festival that has become a tradition amongst the musicians of the state and also to visiting artists who come to celebrate the music that is so special to this area

One of the little known facts about trova, are the adaptations that have been made for Mariachi music. Sunday, March 11th at the Merida Theater, a presentation of The Yucatecan Voice in the Soul of the Mariachi is a show you won't want to miss!

The Chamber Choir of Yucatan will present their first musical CD of trova Yucateca, in which these incredible voices sing the most popular themes of the land of the Mayab. Put Wednesday, March 14th at the Peon Contreras Theater on your calendar.

The Youth Symphonic Orchestra of Yucatan will accompany renowned Yucatecan groups in the Symphonic Trova concert on Saturday, March 17th at the Peon Contreras Theater.
