Yucatan Fair 2007


November 9th - December 2nd, 2007

The 33rd edition of the Yucatan State Fair X-Matkuil is a true state fair with cattle and horse shows and auctions, rodeos, mechanical rides and 23 days of the best fun and entertainment in the entire southeast region of Mexico.

There are options of things to do for all tastes and ages. The events that are planned for this 2007 edition of the fair include shows at The Town Theater with artists such as Caña Real, Sonora de Margarita, Guardianes del Amor, Super Lamas, Sonora Santaneca, Enanitos Verdes, Alegres de la Sierra, Rayito Colombiano, Panteón Rococo, Bobby Pulido and Banda Machos.

Yucatan’s culture and traditions will come to life at the 3rd Festival of Electronic Music on Nov. 24, the 6th Hip Hop Regional Festival on Dec. 1st and the Magna Vaquería on Nov. 16th from 7 PM – midnight. Typically dressed dancers from 30 municipalities will dance. Nov. 22 is the Grand finale of the XX Mexican Song Contest. Artists are Alberto Angel el Cuervo and Valente Pastor.

This year’s attractions include: the dolphin shows (3 shows daily Mon – Fri and 4 on the weekend), live sharks, trained birds, a touching farm, reptile exhibition, Pope Pope Circus (pronounced poe-pay poe-pay), the Clydesdale Horses, and an internatio-nal bicycle acrobatic show from Brazil.
Forums at the Izamal Plaza will be the site of various events one of which is the Tecate Simulator where earth shaking technology will surprise everyone. For those who like Northern Mexico style music, the groups K-Paz de la Sierra and the Intocables will be on stage for your enjoyment.

Rodeo and escaramuzas, true components of the essence of Mexican lore will present their shows at the rodeo horse ring. Horse jumping shows will also have their day. Dog lovers can visit the dog shows on November 10 and 11 and December 1 and 2.

Another popular happening at the State Fair are the field trip visits by the school children from kindergarten up to high school from all over the state. DJ’s, skateboarding, a presentation of torture objects, a spectacle of bicycles and many more events round out this 23 day long fair.

Creative hands from diverse parts of the Yucatan and Mexico will bring a thousand and one different products that will satisfy all tastes and pocketbooks.

The gastronomic sector at the fair, the food courts, will be represented by an impressive banquet of aromas, colors and flavors.

The productive sector of the state will proudly present their achievements in the industrial and commercial areas where you will find row after row of stands with everything from furniture to clothing to tractors to shoes to handcrafts to music and CD’s to a wide gama of Yucatecan products. Hammocks and hand embroidered clothing are quite popular, also.

This is just a small sampling of the hundreds of activities and events that X-Matkuil will offer for 23 days from Friday, November 9th to Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 -the first time the fair runs into December.

This fair of fairs – a place of fun, entertainment and commercial and industrial activity will cost $10 pesos for children and adults. Parking will cost $20 pesos and the mechanical ride prices will vary between $10 and $30 pesos.

How to get there:

If you are taking public transport there are buses comming and going all the time, from 10 am to 12 midnight (please check the time to get back when bording). The buses are located on Calle 69 between 58 and 60. The rate for this bus is $5 pesos per person.
